Meet Bibi Chien, french for "endeared dog" and she is very endeared to us. Bibi Chien is a Dogue de Bordeaux AKA French Mastiff. Bibi is a petit mastiff at 80# but at just under one year, she still has a little more growing to do. Being a puppy, Bibi has lots of energy and mischief making but is incredibly loving and affectionate. Bibi Chien comes with a story very much like a fairy tale princess in need of prince or magical kiss.
Just over two months ago, our rescue got a call from the Riverside, Ca shelter that Bibi needed to be rescued immediately or their vet would euthanize her because they lacked the funds to treat her non contagious mange. The volunteers panicked as Bibi was everyones favorite puppy and she needed immediate medical attention. Canine Rescue Coalition with the help of Akita Rescue jumped into action and called me to foster. My husband and I saw that face and could not say no. We were her magical kiss, Darlene and Lysette were her knights in shining armor.
Bibi had lost almost all of her hair and her skin was so fragile it bled when touched. Her condition is easily treated, but when left untreated for a long time can become fatal and she was almost there. We immediately got her on her simple meds and along with a healthy diet, supplements and a bath every other day Bibi immediately began to flourish. Bibi was so grateful for her first bath she literally wrapped her arms around me and hugged me deeply. Her gratitude brought me to tears, she craved touch, love and affection and gives it back unconditionally. We also learned that Bibi has a heart murmur so we took her to a cardiologist for a second opinion. He confirmed a level 3 murmur but told us she is a healthy pup with a full life ahead. She will just need a low sodium diet (we can recommend) and an xray before any surgery to double check her heart. The doctor, staff and patients all loved Bibi and she was thrilled to be fawned over. The doctor smiled and said, "she is HIGHLY adoptable and has an AMAZING temperament!".
Bib Chien deserves that happy ending that every fairy tale has, will you be her knight in shining armor and shower her with magical kisses? Bibi gets along well with dogs of both sexes and all sizes. Bibi does love to chase, so no cats recommended. Bibi has no food, toy or treat aggression. Bibi would do best in a home with a canine sibling(s) and enjoys playful children. She is young and energetic and needs more basic obedience training and is still learning to walk calmly on a leash. Everything is very exciting for her and she looks for new friends to meet. Bibi loves to play, play, play and enjoys toys and chewing hoofs and knuckle bones. She loves her baths and to play in water on a hot day! Bibi's favorite activity sharing her love and affectionate with all and wants nothing more than to make you smile.
Bibi Chien is being fostered with a male mastiff, a senior, blind Basset and we also temp fostered a female Neo Mastiff which immediately became Bibi's new best friend. She loves to help other dogs in need, she is a natural little helper. As her foster family, we will be more than happy to talk to you about all her endearing qualities and to explain her current (simple) needs for her murmur and will gladly stay in touch with her new family.
